The Chance Meeting
Tyrion stops at the Crossroads Inn, where he is recognized by Catelyn Stark. She accuses him of attempting to murder Bran and calls on the men present to seize him.
The Arrest
Tyrion is taken captive despite his protests. He is forced to ride east toward the Eyrie, with Catelyn and a small party of men.
The Mountain Clans
On the high road, they are attacked by mountain clans. Tyrion fights alongside his captors, earning a measure of respect from Bronn, a sellsword.

Tyrion is brought before Lysa Arryn, who is convinced of his guilt. He demands a trial by combat, knowing his only hope is to find a champion.

While awaiting the trial, Tyrion is held in a sky cell, an open-sided cell with a sheer drop. He suffers from cold and hunger, and the gaoler Mord abuses him.
The Bribe
Tyrion bribes Mord to deliver a message to Lysa, claiming he wishes to confess. This buys him time and a chance to speak before the court.

The Duel
The Champion
Tyrion names Bronn as his champion. Bronn faces Ser Vardis Egen, a knight of the Vale. The duel is fought in the garden of the Eyrie.
The Fight
Bronn uses his agility to tire the heavily armored Ser Vardis. He eventually tricks him into falling and kills him, winning Tyrion's freedom.
The Release
Lysa is forced to release Tyrion, but she sends him down the high road without escort, hoping the mountain clans will kill him. Instead, Tyrion recruits the clans to his cause.
